Editorial team
Named editors, real credentials, and a clear process for researching and reviewing every guide we publish.
Who we are
Business Finance Toolkit is written and reviewed by a small editorial team with first-hand experience of UK small-business finance — as freelancers, company directors, accountants and former finance journalists. Every guide is researched against current rules from GOV.UK, HMRC, Companies House and the FCA, and reviewed by the relevant editor below before publication.

Former personal-finance journalist who runs her own consultancy and files her own Self Assessment every January.

Fifteen years in UK SME banking and commercial credit. Pragmatic about fees, sceptical of teaser rates.

Chartered accountant (ACA) and director of two limited companies. Believes most company admin is simpler than it looks.
How we research and review
- Primary sources first — GOV.UK, HMRC, Companies House, FCA and ICO — with the source linked in-text where it materially affects the guidance.
- Every guide is fact-checked by the named editor for that topic before publication and given a "last updated" stamp.
- Product details (fees, eligibility, rewards, APR) are reviewed at least monthly. Stale numbers are flagged and updated, not quietly left.
- Spotted something wrong? Tell us via the Corrections Policy page and we fix and date-stamp the change.
Editorial independence
We earn money when readers open a recommended account or card through one of our links — but commercial relationships do not influence editorial coverage. We write about providers we have not partnered with, we recommend free options where they are the best fit, and we flag risks honestly. The full position is in our Editorial Policy and Affiliate Disclosure.
