About James

James spent fifteen years in UK SME banking and commercial credit — five at a high-street bank as a relationship manager for small business clients, then seven at a challenger bank designing onboarding flows for sole traders and limited companies, and most recently three years consulting independently on credit policy and product comparisons. He writes our reviews of business current accounts, credit cards and short-term lending products, and pushes back hard on marketing language that hides true costs.

How James works

  • Researches every guide against primary sources — GOV.UK, HMRC, Companies House and the FCA — and links them in-text when they materially affect the guidance.
  • Fact-checks product details (fees, eligibility, APR) at least monthly and flags stale numbers rather than quietly leaving them.
  • Spotted something wrong? Tell us via the Corrections Policy and we’ll fix and date-stamp it.
