Short answer

This calculator estimates personal Income Tax, employee National Insurance, dividend tax and employer National Insurance for a director taking both salary and dividends. It is a planning tool only; it does not calculate Corporation Tax, pension contributions, student loans, child-benefit charges or every possible allowance.

Income tax on salary
£0
Dividend tax
£4,821
Employee NI
£0
Employer NI
£1,136
Estimated personal take-home
£47,749

What this does and does not show

Salary is normally deductible when calculating the company’s Corporation Tax profits, while dividends are paid from post-tax profits. The employer National Insurance figure is included so you can see the company-side payroll cost, but it is not deducted from the personal take-home result. Use the Corporation Tax calculatoralongside this tool when comparing full extraction scenarios.

The most suitable salary and dividend split depends on company profit, employment allowance, other income, pension contributions, IR35 status and commercial priorities. Ask your accountant to confirm the appropriate approach for your circumstances.
